Hex Bots

If your child loves hot wheels, they might also love Hex Bots. They incorporate all the fun of building tracks and racing, but with simplistic mini-bots instead of cars. My first graders used them with magna-tiles and built mazes for the Hex Bots to race through. In coding club, we used the tracks and obstacles that came with the kit to build complex designs. The kids were thrilled when a bot would make it all the way to the end of their complex track. It seems that these are a great gift for kids of all ages and they are very simple to use.

While these are not the kind of robots that you can code or program they are a great introduction to small motors and how things work. I am hoping that in the Spring my 5th graders will make brush bots which are the home made version of the Hex Bots. More to come on that in the future.

The laughter and joy that fills my room every time I bring these out is always a delight to my ears.
